ElMetro-EKD
Pneumatic power supply system ElMetro-EKD (hereinafter - SPP) is designed to supply pneumatic networks and devices with compressed air of pollution class 1 according to GOST 17433-80. It is used to power:
- Pressure calibrator-controllers ElMetro-Pascal, Vozduh, PACE 5000, DPI515, PPC4, WIKA CPC6000, CPC8000;
- pressure sensor characterization installations;
- gas deadweight gauge, etc.
ElMetro-EKD is indispensable in the absence of stationary pneumatic systems and the impossibility of using high-pressure cylinders with their periodic refueling.

Structurally, there are several variants of SPP :
Single-stage models: EKD1-08, EKD1-16, EKD4-01-VN-K are low-noise compressors (pumps). SPP with the designation EKD1, uses an oil low-noise compressor with a capacity of 50 nl / min or 100 nl / min (Jun-Air 6-15 and Jun-Air 12-40 compressors). SPP with the designation EKD4 uses a vacuum low-noise pump with a residual pressure of not more than 3 kPa.
Two-stage models: EKD2-16-50, EKD2-21-50, EKD2-26-50, EKD2-36-50, EKD2-65-30, EKD2-110-20, EKD2-165-10, EKD2-210-10, EKD2-250-10, are a combination of one-stage SPP, mentioned above, and a pressure increaser, also known as booster:- Compressor
- Booster unit in a separate housing.
The booster, designed specifically to provide the supply pressure for ElMetro-Pascal controllers, it increases the pressure of the first-stage compressors by 2-32 times. The booster can be purchased separately as a complete device - model EKD3. It is placed in the case with dimensions of 600x400x300 mm. There are no analogs in mass-dimensional and noise characteristics.
Input pressure is controlled by a pressure switch that turns the compressor on and off. Precise adjustment and maintenance of output pressure is carried out using a pneumatic pressure regulator (gearbox). To clean the air from pollution and dehumidification, moisture separators filters are installed at the input and output of each stage. After the first stage, a 10-liter receiver is installed, a 2-liter receiver is installed at the outlet (test pressure is 2.8 MPa and 30 MPa).
The design of power supply systems, in addition to compressors and receivers, includes:
- Cut-off valves of the outputs of the first and second stages;
- Output pneumatic ports of the first and second stages;
- Moisture filter of the first and second stages;
- Pneumatic pressure regulator;
- Fitting under the connecting tube;

Installation and placement
ElMetro-EKD can be placed in the immediate vicinity of verifier’s workplace (if it is impossible to place it in a separate room).
There are three main modifications of power supply system:- single-stage compressors EKD1;
- two-stage EKD2;
- separately supplied EKD3 boosters with custom or standard pressure rating.
All existing modifications are presented in Table 1.

After switching on the power supply system to the network, the internal receiver has been filling within 5-10 minutes and the system turns off when the nominal value is reached. The system is turned on automatically after reaching a lower switching point of 10-15%.
To regulate the output pressure in the ranges indicated in Table 1, ElMetro-EKD power supply system can be equipped with an output gearbox.
BenefitsEvery existing metrological laboratory today in our country and abroad cannot do without supplying the network pressure up to 25 MPa. ElMetro represents the latest development of an electric pressure booster from ElMetro-EKD3-XXX-XX-XX series of power supply system, capable supply pressure up to 25 MPa at the output. To supply it at the input, the supply pressure should be 0.6 to 1 MPa and the supply voltage should be 220 V. The booster emits no more than 51 dB of noise, and therefore there is no need for an additional utility room for its placement. The level of the upper pressure limit for the automation of metrological benches for pressure sensors calibration has reached 25 MPa. In conjunction with a pressure controller, this solution will allow to test 98% of all available pressure sensors in fully automatic mode.
